Greg Matos, Psy.D., ABPP

Dr. Greg Matos is a nationally recognized expert in couple psychology, specializing in Gottman-Method Couples Therapy. He was trained as a military psychologist by the U.S. Navy and served as a Lieutenant Commander on active duty and in the reserves, working with service members.

In 2020, Greg directed the Boston Vet Center, leading an interdisciplinary mental health team caring for veterans and their families. He became board-certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in Couple and Family Psychology. He recently completed a term on the board of the American Academy of Couple and Family Psychology.

Greg founded the educational charity A Better Love Project, Inc. in 2021. The project continues to share relationship science with an audience of over 50,000 online. For three seasons, it produced a weekly show A Better Love with Dr. Greg (2021-2024). Since 2025, the project has focused on its new mentorship and community building program: Venice Beach League.

Dr. Matos has been helping high-performing professionals for over 11 years in his consulting practice at Matos Psychological Consulting. In 2025, the practice established an Assessment Center focused on supporting neurodivergent adults and families with comprehensive evaluations of Attention-Deficit and/or Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Along with personality assessments, the center promotes deep insights into all factors contributing to our clients’ success.

Dr. Matos is originally from Rhode Island and currently lives in Marina del Rey where he is an avid yogi, volleyball player, and sailor. Greg is a member of the Venice Chamber of Commerce, LA County Psychological Association, and Del Rey Toastmasters.
